MacIntyre started playing golf at 17
Robert MacIntyre, 26, from Oban, started golfing at 17, after playing his favorite sport, shinty. He took the “card” for the DP World Tour in 2018 through the Challenge Tour money list. He immediately stood out in 2019 with excellent performances (three times runner up and sixth in The Open) and at the end of the season he was awarded as “Rookie of The Year”. The following year came his first success in the Ras Al Khaimah Classic. It was since 1999 (Dean Robertson in Turin) that a Scotsman hadn’t won the Italian Open. He was rewarded with a check for 510,000 euros on a prize pool of 3,000,000 euros.
