The redesign of the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club, led by European Golf Design in collaboration with Tom Fazio II, began in August 2018, with nine holes completed and reopened in October 2020, followed by the full 18 holes in early March .

In addition to the extensive work on the golf course, the clubhouse and training facilities are currently undergoing renovations ahead of the Italian Open which will take place from 2 to 5 September 2021, three weeks before the Ryder Cup in this year at Whistling Straits. Two more editions of the Italian Open will then be played at the Marco Simone Golf & Country Club in 2022 and 2023, before becoming the third venue in continental Europe to host the Ryder Cup after Valderrama in Spain (1997) and Le Golf National in France (2018).
